A Multiport Partial Power Processing Converter With Energy Storage Integration for EV Stationary Charging

Battery storage system (BSS) integration in the fast charging station (FCS) is becoming popular to achieve higher rates with peak-demand shaping possibility. However, additional conversion stage for integrating BSS increases losses, size, and cost. The concept of a partial power processing converter (PPPC) can mitigate this effect. Compared conventional used full (FPPC), PPPC reduces amount transferred from electric vehicle (EV) by converter. As consequence, losses generated are reduced, leading lower sized converters efficiencies. This article proposes dc/dc multiport that allows battery FCS based on while maintaining specific requirements terms isolation FCS. proposed three-port (3P-PPPC) derived commonly triple active bridge (TAB) resulting design tradeoffs, dynamic behavior, limitations topology investigated. Furthermore, round-trip efficiency 3P-PPPC compared FPPC solutions, highlighting superiority topology. A prototype has been built validate 3P-PPPC.
